Colony Farm, Port Coquitlam, BC

Colony Farm Regional Park is a park along the Coquitlam River in the Tri-Cities area of Metro Vancouver. It is 260 hectares in size. Colony Farm was once one of the most modern and productive working farms in Canada. Today, it provides important habitat for many animal species and over 200 bird species.

2019 January. Great Blue Heron.

Blue herons are long-legged wading birds, commonly widespread across North America. Herons are closely related to egrets and bitterns. Herons are equipped with long, sharp pointed bills that are used for snapping food from their area of life close to water - fish, frogs, insects and sometimes mice. They usually live in colonies but hunt for food alone during the day and come back to their permanent locations at dusk.
